THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY OF QUÉBEC WILL CREATE A CHARTER FOR THE RIGHTS OF VICTIMS OF CRIMINAL ACTS

Québec – A government of the Conservative Party of Québec will create a Charter for the rights of victims of criminal acts in a first term, announced the leader Adrien Pouliot on social media Monday.
“The rights of criminals have received all the attention of the political class in recent years, while victims suffered,” says the conservative leader in a new video.
According to him, it is time to bring back the rights of victims of criminal acts to the foreground and to provide them with services that the criminals don’t have to fight to receive. An unfortunate example of that is the case of Isabelle Gascon. After her former spouse Guy Turcotte killed their two children, she had to fight for eight years to be considered by the province as a victim.
“The province doesn’t spend too much to give help to victims, it spends badly,” argues the leader of the only right-wing political formation in Québec.
The Conservative Party of Québec is concerned about other justice-related issues. On September 15th, Adrien Pouliot participated in the “Marche blanche de Québec” with Senator Pierre-Hugues Boisvenu to ask for a public registry of sex offenders. More broadly, the Conservative Party thinks that the current state of the Québec justice system is deplorable where, for example, “you have members of the Hell’s Angels who regain their freedom because their trial takes too much time.”
“On October 1st, I vote conservative because victims also have rights,’ concludes Adrien Pouliot.
