LEADER OF CONSERVATIVE PARTY OF QUÉBEC CALLS FOR ALL CONSERVATIVES TO UNITE BEHIND ONE PARTY

August 25, 2018

QUÉBEC — Adrien Pouliot, leader of the Conservative Party of Québec, has taken note of the resignation of Mr. Maxime Bernier as member of the caucus and member of the Conservative Party of Canada.

Asked if his party would support an eventual party founded by Mr. Bernier, Mr. Pouliot remarked that the Constitution of his Party provides for a form of support to the Conservative Party of Canada.

Mr. Pouliot also noted that the Constitution of the Conservative Party of Canada contain a provision pursuant to which it must support and promote the provincial conservatives parties. Mr. Andrew Scheer also reiterated his support for the Conservative Party of Québec in a letter signed as Mr. Scheer was garnering support from Québec conservatives during the leadership race of this party”.

The Conservative Party of Québec is the only party that promotes conservative values. François Legault, leader of the Coalition Avenir Québec, says himself his party is not right of centre. I therefore call upon the whole Québec conservative family to unite behind the Conservative Party of Québec to bring our conservative voice to the National Assembly” concluded Mr. Pouliot.
